Sven-Göran Eriksson, the former England football manager, has passed away at the age of 76 after a prolonged battle with terminal pancreatic cancer. Eriksson, a popular Swedish coach, succumbed to the illness on Monday, eight months after publicly announcing his diagnosis earlier this year. At the time, he revealed that doctors had given him a year to live in the "best-case scenario."

Eriksson's illustrious football career spanned eight countries and included high-profile roles such as managing the England national team, Manchester City, and Leicester City. He also came close to leading Nigeria's Super Eagles to the 2010 World Cup but was ultimately upstaged by his fellow Swede, Lars Lagerbäck.

Eriksson managed the England national team for 67 matches, including a notable 2002 World Cup clash with Nigeria, which ended in a goalless draw. His impact on football left a lasting legacy, both in England and internationally, as he guided multiple clubs and teams to success over several decades.

Sven-Göran Eriksson will be remembered as a highly respected figure in the world of football, with a career that touched lives across continents.
