The much-awaited 1000 Hills Derby between Rayon Sports and APR FC ended in a goalless draw, leaving fans with a mixture of emotions after an intense match. Despite the lack of goals, the atmosphere at the newly renovated Amahoro Stadium, packed with 45,000 spectators, remained electric.

During the game, Rayon Sports captain Muhire Kevin alleged that APR FC captain Claude Niyomugabo warned his teammate Thaddeo Lwanga not to get injured as he was needed for CHAN tournaments. This exchange added drama to an already heated derby.

Rayon Sports’ official page highlighted that the team's winless streak has now extended to 12 games. Coach Robertinho expressed his admiration for the derby atmosphere, reminiscing about similar rivalries he experienced in Brazil, including Flamengo versus Fluminense and Palmeiras clashes.

The match showcased the strong rivalry and mutual respect between the two teams, reaffirming the 1000 Hills Derby as a cornerstone of Rwandan football culture.
