Kabowa, Kampala – Former Makindye East MP, Ibrahim Kasozi, was the guest of honor at the launch of a powerful new book titled “Nsale Ssale: Vva Mu Birooto” written by journalist and Kampala Lord Councilor, Ddamba Ismail.
The event, held in Kabowa, drew a large crowd of locals, political figures, and mechanics from nearby areas. Ddamba's book exposes how both opposition and ruling party politicians betray voters, pretending to fight for the poor while secretly making deals with the regime. As someone who has been active in opposition politics under leaders like Kizza Besigye (FDC) and Mugisha Muntu (ANT), Ddamba shares insider truths that many found shocking.
He talks about certain politicians who ride on opposition popularity for votes, yet they secretly support President Museveni. Ddamba also warns that planned changes to the UPDF Act, allowing army courts to continue trying civilians, could lead to chaos and even violence in courtrooms. He accuses several opposition MPs of already taking bribes to support the amendment while pretending to oppose it in public.
The book event featured guests like ex-Minister Sarah Kanyike, Rubaga Speaker Musa Mbaziira, and Kampala Central MP Mohammed Nsereko. Nsereko praised the book’s honesty and promised to fund an audio version so more people, including those who can’t read, can hear its message through their phones.
Kasozi, who bought the book for UGX 1 million, used the platform to announce his ambition to become Kampala’s next Lord Mayor. He criticized current Mayor Erias Lukwago for always blaming the Central Government instead of finding ways to develop the city independently.
“Past mayors like Seya and Ssebaana Kizito didn’t wait for state funding. They lobbied support from private partners and still delivered roads, markets, and hospitals,” Kasozi said. He added that Lukwago should have done the same, instead of making excuses.
Kasozi mentioned projects like the Nakivubo channel, Ring Road, and Mbogo Road, which were built with support from non-government sources. He also praised Joyce Ssebugwawo, former Rubaga Mayor, for acquiring firefighting equipment without depending on government funds.

On the sidelines, Kasozi spoke confidently about his mayoral bid, promising to reveal his full campaign plan soon. He promised to make Kampala a cleaner, safer, and more inclusive city, working with private individuals and local tycoons to develop public infrastructure.
Meanwhile, Nsereko, who is now eyeing the presidency, spoke of the poor state of Kampala roads and said government funding must increase. Kasozi, however, blamed Lukwago for the poor road conditions in areas like Kabowa, where the book launch took place.
Ddamba Ismail, now seeking re-election to City Hall, said he hopes to become Deputy Lord Mayor under Kasozi’s leadership. He believes that together they can bring real development to Rubaga Division.
