Super Eagles players are reacting to the Confederation of African Football's (CAF) decision to penalize Libya after the disrupted 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

CAF’s Disciplinary Board awarded Nigeria three points and three goals following the canceled Match Day 4 qualifier, scheduled for October 15 in Benina. The Nigerian delegation experienced a flight diversion and was stranded at a remote airport for over 17 hours.

The Libya Football Federation (LFF) has also been fined $50,000, with payment required within 60 days of the decision.

Reacting to the news, William Troost-Ekong posted on X.com, “JUSTICE: CAF awards three points and three goals to Nigeria. Libya fined $50,000. Our flight was diverted 300km from the scheduled airport, even though the pilot warned he was low on fuel. One step closer to our target AFCON 2025.”

Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali also responded, humorously quote-tweeting CAF’s announcement and asking, “$50k for eba?”
