Besigye and Lutale seek bail after 5 months in detention; supporters demand justice and fair treatment.

Many people in Uganda and around the world are watching closely as Dr. Kizza Besigye and Haji Obeid Lutale attend a court hearing on Friday, April 11, to ask for bail.

The two men have been in jail for five months. Human rights groups and supporters say their arrest was unfair and politically motivated. Some even say they were taken from Nairobi without following the law.

Winnie Byanyima, a well-known voice for human rights and wife to Dr. Besigye, is hopeful.

She said, “We can’t wait to welcome home our loved ones,” as she waits for their possible release.

She added that keeping them in jail any longer would be very wrong. “They are not a flight risk, and they have done nothing wrong,” she explained.

Supporters say both men are innocent and should not be punished for political reasons. Human rights activists are also calling for better treatment of prisoners and an end to cruel and unfair actions.

Dr. Besigye is a famous opposition leader in Uganda, while Haji Lutale is respected for his work in civic society. Many people see them as strong voices against political unfairness.

This court decision could be an important step towards justice and freedom for the two men, and many are hoping for good news by the end of the week.
