Ugandan singer Winnie Nwagi
Popular Ugandan singer Winnie Nwagi has once again made headlines after boldly sharing her thoughts on ageing and marriage during recent interviews on local TV stations.
Speaking with confidence and honesty, Nwagi praised the beauty of getting older, calling it a natural part of life that should be celebrated, not feared. "What is wrong with ageing? It is a blessing," she said during an interview on Sanyuka TV. She added that many people, especially those in the entertainment industry, try to hide their age — especially after turning 30 — but she wants to remind them that growing older is a normal and valuable part of life.
Her strong words quickly went viral, gaining praise from fans and fellow artists who appreciated her fresh and fearless perspective. In a world where many fear ageing, especially women in showbiz, Nwagi encouraged everyone to embrace every year with pride.
Alongside her comments on ageing, Nwagi also addressed public pressure to get married. She made it clear that she’s not interested in marriage right now and won’t be pushed by society to settle down.
“I left my father’s house a long time ago. I now rent and live in my own place,” she said. “I’m not pressured into marriage. If someone wants to marry, let them do it — but it’s not for me at the moment.”

Many of her fellow female artists, including Vinka, Sheebah Karungi, and Irene Ntale, are either married or in public relationships, but Nwagi is choosing a different path. Her focus is on her music career and personal goals, not on fitting into society’s timeline.
“There’s no age limit when it comes to marriage,” she added. “People should stop thinking women must marry at a certain time.”
Winnie Nwagi’s bold attitude continues to inspire many young women, reminding them that self-worth is not tied to age or marital status — and that living life on your own terms is always worth it.
