British Ambassador to Tanzania, Marianne Young
The Executive Editor of The Guardian newspaper, Wallace Mauggo, along with British Ambassador to Tanzania, Marianne Young, recently toured the newsroom of The Guardian TGL newspaper.
During her visit to IPP media outlets in Dar es Salaam on February 12, 2025, the British High Commissioner, Marianne Young, reaffirmed the UK’s commitment to supporting Tanzania’s development. She assured that despite reductions in U.S. aid, Britain remains dedicated to international development and humanitarian efforts in the country.
"The U.S. aid strategy is their decision. However, the UK will continue its support for development and humanitarian projects in Tanzania. Our partnership with Tanzania is crucial, not just with its government but also with the entire region," Young stated.
She further announced plans to expand trade between the UK and Tanzania, aiming to increase investments by 100 million pounds (over 270 billion Tanzanian shillings). Key areas of focus include energy, hydropower, and telecommunications.
To strengthen investment ties, a delegation from the London Stock Exchange will visit Tanzania, helping local businesses connect with global financial markets. Additionally, Tanzanian exporters benefit from the UK’s tariff-free access, further supporting economic growth in the country.
