President Samia Suluhu Hassan has made several key leadership changes in the government, affecting different sectors. These appointments and transfers, which impact District Commissioners, District Executive Secretaries, District Council Executive Directors, and a board position, were announced by Chief Secretary Amb Dr. Moses Kusiluka on January 24.

Changes in District Commissioners

The President has appointed new District Commissioners while also transferring some officials to different locations. Mr. Godfrey Eliakimu Mnzava, who was the Ilemela District Officer, is now the District Commissioner of Moshi. Other notable changes include Mr. Michael John Semindu, who moves from Iringa District Executive Secretary to Mbulu District Commissioner, and Mr. Khamana Juma Simba, who has been transferred from Arusha to become the District Commissioner of Ulanga. He replaces Dr. Julius Keneth Ningu, who has retired.

Several other districts also saw leadership changes. Mr. Joseph Josephat Mkude, previously in Kishapu District, will now serve as Arusha District Commissioner, taking over from Mr. Felician Gasper Mtahengera, whose appointment has been revoked.

Appointments of District Executive Secretaries

New District Executive Secretaries have also been named. Mr. Jacob Julius Rombo, who was stationed in Mbogwe, has been transferred to Arusha. Additionally, Mr. Benard Dominic Urasa, a senior official from the Office of the President, has been assigned to Iringa.

Ms. Happyness John Sulle, who previously led the Library and Archives Department at the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) headquarters, is now the District Executive Secretary of Mkalama.

District Council Executive Directors Appointed

The President has also made changes at the District Council level. Mr. Edwin Lussa Bayona, who headed the Legal Department at Mwanga District Council, is now the Executive Director of Mbogwe District Council.

Ms. Zahara Muhidin Michuzi has been moved from Ifakara to become the Executive Director of Meatu District Council, while Mr. Jerry Daimon Mwaga has been transferred from Kaliua to Makete District Council.

In addition to these changes, President Samia has appointed Ms. Yokbeth Festo Myumbilwa as the new chairperson of the board of the Geological Survey and Mineral Research Institute of Tanzania (GST). She replaces Prof. Justinian Rwezaula Ikingura, whose term has ended.

These adjustments aim to strengthen governance and ensure that key leadership positions are occupied by qualified individuals.
