Ayra Starr Ventures into Nollywood with Debut in Prime Video's 'Christmas in Lagos'

Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr has officially entered the Nigerian film industry, Nollywood, adding her name to the growing list of musicians crossing over into acting. The 22-year-old Grammy-nominated artist makes her on-screen debut in Prime Video's original romantic comedy, Christmas in Lagos.

The film, directed by renowned filmmaker Jadesola Osiberu, features an ensemble cast including Teniola Aladese, Shalom C. Obiago, Rayxia Ojo, Shaffy Bello, and Adekunle Gold. The story centers around Fiyin (Aladese), who, after a heartbreak, comes to believe that her closest friend, Elo (Obiago), might be the true love of her life.

Shot entirely in Lagos, Christmas in Lagos blends romance and comedy against the vibrant backdrop of the city. Speaking to Variety, Osiberu praised Starr's inclusion in the project, saying,

"For me, Ayra Starr represents what it means to be young, female, daring, brave, and fearless—just being yourself. She was on the list from day one."
