Liverpool Leads the Charge: Opta’s AI Predicts UCL Winners

Opta’s AI SuperComputer has given its prediction for which team is most likely to win this season’s UEFA Champions League. According to its simulations, English clubs have a 38% chance of winning.

Opta ran 10,000 simulations of the remaining tournament to come up with its results.

The most likely winner is Liverpool, with a 20.2% chance of lifting the trophy.

Arsenal are second, with a 16.8% chance. Arsenal are also 79% likely to reach the quarter-finals, as they will face either PSV Eindhoven or Feyenoord in the Round of 16.

Real Madrid has been given a 10.5% chance of winning their 16th Champions League title. Meanwhile, Barcelona (12.7%) and Inter Milan (12.4%) are considered slightly stronger contenders than Madrid.

Aston Villa, who won the European Cup in 1982, have only a 1.2% chance of winning it again this season.
