Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy has matched a Premier League record previously set by Cristiano Ronaldo.
Vardy scored in Leicester’s surprising 2-1 victory against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. Spurs took the lead in the 33rd minute through Richarlison, but Vardy equalized just after halftime in the 46th minute. Moroccan youngster Bilal El Khannouss then scored in the 50th minute, securing the win and moving Leicester out of the relegation zone.
With this goal, Vardy became only the fifth player aged 37 or older to contribute to 10 or more goals in a Premier League season, according to Squawka. The last to achieve this was Ronaldo during his second time at Manchester United, scoring 18 goals and assisting three in the 2021-22 season.
Ryan Giggs also hit this milestone in 2011-12 with two goals and eight assists. Teddy Sheringham was the first to do it, followed by Gary Speed.
Now 38, Vardy continues to perform at a high level, with seven goals and three assists in 21 league matches this season.
