Premier League weekend showdown: Can underdogs defy the odds?

Premier League weekend showdown: Can underdogs defy the odds?

The English Premier League's matchweek 23 will take place this weekend, starting on Saturday evening and finishing on Sunday night.

The biggest game of the weekend is Saturday’s late kickoff at the Etihad Stadium, where Manchester City will face Chelsea.

Man City hopes to win against Chelsea to move into the top four in the league standings. Pep Guardiola’s team is currently in fifth place, just two points behind Chelsea, who sit in fourth.

Apart from this match, there are four other games where surprising results could happen this weekend.

1. Liverpool vs Ipswich Town

Liverpool is the clear favorite to win against Ipswich Town, a team currently in 18th place.

The Reds won 2-0 against Brentford in their last league match, while Ipswich suffered a heavy loss to Manchester City.

However, Ipswich, also known as The Tractor Boys, will try to avoid another defeat when they visit Anfield. They could manage to get a draw or even a shock win against Arne Slot’s side.

2. Wolves vs Arsenal

Both teams failed to win their last league games. Wolves lost 3-1 to Chelsea, while Arsenal had a 2-2 draw with Aston Villa.

At Molineux Stadium, Wolves could surprise Arsenal by using their home advantage and the support of their fans to avoid another defeat.

3. Fulham vs Man United

This match could be a chance for Fulham to take revenge. Earlier this season, they lost 1-0 to Man United at Old Trafford.

Man United will try to secure another win over Fulham on Sunday night at Craven Cottage.

However, Fulham is currently ahead of United in the league table and will aim to take all three points against Ruben Amorim’s team to make up for their loss last August.

4. Tottenham vs Leicester

This game is expected to be a tough battle.

Both teams lost their last matches—Spurs were beaten 3-2 by Everton, while Leicester suffered a 2-0 defeat against Fulham.

Now, both sides will try to avoid two straight losses, but Leicester, also known as the Foxes, could pull off a surprise and get a good result against Spurs.
