Young Africans (Yanga), the champions of Mainland Tanzania, are set to play against Sudan's Al Hilal Omdurman in the CAF Champions League group stage today at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam. The match starts at 4 pm and marks the debut of Yanga's new head coach, Sead Ramovic, who recently replaced Miguel Gamondi.
In their last two meetings, Yanga did not win against Al Hilal, leading to their exit from the competition in 2022. They drew 1-1 on October 8, 2022, and lost 1-0 in the return match in Omdurman.
Coach Ramovic emphasized the team's focus on winning, acknowledging the challenge ahead. He stated,
"We need to be well-focused in the match, which is not going to be easy, as each club is out for victory on the football pitch. We have trained well ahead of the encounter."
Al Hilal's coach, Florent Ibenge, also expressed his team's determination to win, highlighting their preparation and the importance of starting the campaign strongly.
