Tanzania Qualifies for AFCON Finals for the Fourth Time

Tanzania’s Taifa Stars celebrate their fourth AFCON qualification after a 1-0 victory over Guinea, securing a spot in the 2025 tournament in Morocco.
Tanzania’s national football team, the Taifa Stars, has qualified for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco after defeating Guinea 1-0 at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium. Simon Msuva scored the only goal of the match in the 61st minute, assisted by Mudathir Yahya.
This victory placed Tanzania second in Group H with 10 points, behind DR Congo, who finished with 12 points. Guinea ended in third place with nine points, while Ethiopia came last with just one point.
This marks Tanzania’s fourth appearance at the AFCON finals, following previous qualifications in 1980, 2019, and 2023. It is also the first time they have qualified under the leadership of Tanzanian coach Hemed "Morocco" Suleiman.
The 2025 AFCON tournament is scheduled to take place in Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026. Morocco is hosting the competition for the second time, having last hosted it in 1988.
