Augustine Eguavoen has firmly dismissed rumors about his resignation as head coach of the Super Eagles, affirming that he remains in charge of the Nigerian national football team.

Following Tuesday's 1-1 draw between the Super Eagles and Rwanda’s Amavubi in Kigali, speculation spread on social media that Eguavoen had stepped down. However, speaking to journalists after the team’s return to Abuja, Eguavoen clarified that the reports were false and misleading.

He emphasized that his position remains unchanged, and any discussions with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will focus on evaluating the team’s recent performances and planning future games.

“It’s unfortunate that such false reports are circulating, especially at a time when we need positive energy,”

Eguavoen said.

“I mentioned reviewing our performance with the federation's leadership after these two matches, but the claims of my resignation are completely inaccurate. I remain fully in charge of the Super Eagles.”

Eguavoen, who also serves as the Technical Director of the NFF, reiterated his commitment to leading the team through its upcoming challenges.
