Gernot Rohr, head coach of Benin Republic, acknowledged his team's inability to stop Nigeria's Ademola Lookman during their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 qualifier at Uyo on Saturday.

Lookman, who plays for Atalanta, delivered an outstanding performance, scoring twice as the Super Eagles triumphed 3-0 against the Cheetahs on matchday one. The winger showcased his skills when he dribbled past three Benin defenders, netting Nigeria’s first goal during first-half stoppage time.

The 26-year-old completed his brace with a third goal for Nigeria just eight minutes before full-time, sealing a commanding win for the home team.

"I am not surprised by the result, as I know the talent and potential of this team," Rohr stated post-match. "They played with confidence and flair, and Ademola Lookman was simply unstoppable."
