This happened because the voting did not follow the correct rules. The EC's Deputy Chairperson, Samuel Tettey, spoke about this on Friday, December 13, 2024. He explained that out of 12 areas needing a recount, only three—Suhum, Akwatia, and Fanteakwa North—have been sorted out successfully. The recount for other places, like Ahafo Ano South West, Ahafo Ano North, Obuasi East, and Techiman South, has not yet been done. He said, “It is important to note that the re-collation in the following constituencies, namely Dome Kwabenya, Okaikwei Central, Ablekuma North, and Tema Central, did not follow the laid-down processes as enshrined in CI 127, despite police presence at the collation centres to facilitate the re-collation.” Tettey also explained that in these four places, party members disrupted the process and forced EC workers to announce results for their candidates. This goes against the rules in CI 127. He added that EC workers were under pressure and could not follow the right steps. Because of this, the results in these four areas are illegal and cannot be accepted.
