Tiwa Savage takes on multiple roles in the anticipated film 'Water & Garri,' premiering this May. In the movie, Savage portrays Aisha, an ambitious fashion designer who revisits her hometown after a lengthy stay in the United States. Triggered by a family tragedy, her return unveils a changed landscape marked by heightened violence and tension.

Directed by Meji Alabi and produced collaboratively by Unbound Studio and JM Films, the film captures the essence of Cape Coast and Ghana. It features a talented cast including Mike Afolarin, Andrew Bunting, and Jemima Osunde.

Beyond her lead acting role, Savage also contributes as the executive producer, composer, and performer of the film’s original soundtrack, echoing themes from her 2021 five-track EP also titled 'Water & Garri'. The EP showcases collaborations with notable artists like Nas, Rich King, Amaarae, Brandy, and Tay Iwar.

Savage describes 'Water & Garri' as a narrative centered on female empowerment and love, perspectives she believes are crucial yet underrepresented in Nollywood. "It’s a story told from a female perspective, which I strongly advocate for. We need more narratives like this in Nollywood and across Africa," Savage remarked.
