In a significant boost to Ethiopia's efforts towards national reconciliation and dialogue, the government of Japan has donated 12 vehicles to the Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission. This gesture is aimed at enhancing the commission's operational capabilities, especially in reaching out to rural communities.


Japan's Commitment to Supporting Ethiopia

On April 15, 2024, the Japanese embassy in Addis Ababa organized a ceremony to officially hand over the vehicles. This event underscored Japan's ongoing commitment to supporting Ethiopia's path to national consensus on critical issues. The ceremony was graced by notable attendees including Mesfin Areya, the Chief Commissioner of the Ethiopian National Dialogue, Samuel Doe, UNDP Ethiopia Resident Representative, and Shibata Hironori, the Japanese Ambassador to Ethiopia.

The donated vehicles are expected to significantly ease the transportation challenges faced by the commission, particularly when engaging with remote areas.
