Nigerian Afrobeats stars Asake, Burna Boy, and Rema were unable to clinch awards at the prestigious 2024 Brit Awards held at the O2 Arena in London on March 2, 2024, as reported by the Sunday Telegraph. The event, celebrated for showcasing the pinnacle of musical talent in the United Kingdom, saw both Burna Boy and Asake in the running for the coveted Best International Act of the Year award. However, the title was ultimately awarded to the acclaimed American artist, SZA, leaving the Nigerian contenders without the prize.

In a similar vein, Rema's popular song 'Calm Down' was nominated for Best International Song of the Year but lost to 'Flowers' by Miley Cyrus, despite its widespread acclaim and popularity. Nevertheless, Rema delivered a memorable performance of 'Calm Down' at the ceremony, marking him as only the second African artist to perform at the Brit Awards, following Burna Boy's performance in 2019.

The 2024 Brit Awards also saw Raye achieving a historic milestone by extending her record for the most wins by an artist in a single year in the history of the awards. Despite the absence of awards for Asake, Burna Boy, and Rema, their nominations underscore the growing global influence of Nigerian Afrobeats music and its artists on the international stage.
