MP Ndindi Nyoro defended himself, saying that the budget records prove he did not favor Kiharu.
Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has refused to reveal his next political move after being removed as the chair of the Budget and Appropriations Committee. Speaking at a press conference, he said he needs more time to decide on his future.
"I stopped serving in my position just a few days ago. I need to understand many things before I speak," Nyoro said.
His removal has led to speculation that his relationship with President William Ruto is strained. However, Nyoro avoided discussing any leader or engaging in political fights. He also denied claims that he used his position to direct national budget funds unfairly to his Kiharu constituency.
Nyoro defended himself, saying that the budget records prove he did not favor Kiharu. He challenged his critics to check past budget allocations for fairness.
"I am not the first person to hold this position. If you check the records, you will see the truth," he said.
Despite rumors, Nyoro said no leader in his political coalition has ever asked him to change how he worked. "No one has called me to say what I should have done differently," he added.
No Contact with President Ruto Since October 2024
The MP also revealed that his last real conversation with President Ruto was before October 2024. This has fueled speculation that he is no longer close to the president.
His removal came amid a political reshuffle, where other MPs allied with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua were also replaced in leadership roles.
Nyoro has faced criticism from fellow MPs, who claim he channeled more resources to his constituency while chairing the Budget Committee.
In Parliament, Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah and Minority Leader Junet Mohammed strongly opposed MPs using their positions to benefit their own areas unfairly.
However, Nyoro refused to engage in personal fights. "I don’t respond to insults with insults. Everyone chooses their own type of politics," he said.
Nyoro remains noncommittal about his future but hinted that he will make an announcement at the right time.
"I will speak about this politically when the time comes," he said.
For now, he is staying calm despite pressure from both supporters and critics. His next move in politics remains uncertain, but many are watching to see what he will do next.
