Detectives investigating the murder of Campbell Scott, a British national, have made a key discovery. They identified the person who arranged and paid for the taxi Scott used just before his death.

This individual is now considered crucial for shedding light on Scott's final hours. Police linked a mobile phone tied to this person to Voi, Taita Taveta County, which is over 330 kilometers from where Scott was last seen in Pipeline, Nairobi, with an unknown man.

It's unclear if the person has moved from Voi or has gone off the grid after turning off their phone.

Security camera footage from February 17 shows Scott leaving the Havana Bar & Restaurant in Westlands with the man who hailed the taxi. The taxi driver, now detained, confirmed he dropped them off in Pipeline, Embakasi.

A week later, on February 24, Scott’s body was found hidden in a gunny bag with pineapples in Makongo Forest, Makueni County, in an apparent attempt to deceive the authorities.

The police have also detained a waiter from the bar who saw Scott that night to help with the inquiry.

Investigators have taken statements from employees at both the Havana Bar and the JW Marriott, where Scott was staying.

A postmortem by Chief Government Pathologist Johansen Oduor revealed head and soft tissue injuries, but these were not fatal. This led to a new angle in the probe—possible poisoning, with tests now underway.

Scott was a senior director at the American firm FICO and had come to Nairobi for work on February 16. His body has since been moved to a funeral home as arrangements for sending him back to the UK are made.

As the investigation progresses, detectives are closing in on potential suspects in their quest for justice.
