KCB Bank Kenya has pledged Sh80 million to support the 2025 East Africa Golf Tour, now in its third edition. The tournament was officially launched today and is set to cover 30 events across 16 counties in Kenya and four other East African nations—Rwanda, Tanzania, Burundi, and Uganda.

The bank's sponsorship aims to nurture talent, promote golf as a sport, and foster regional cooperation while driving both social and economic growth. KCB Group Treasurer, Anthony Mulisa, emphasized the tournament's growing role in developing amateur players, encouraging inclusivity, and strengthening regional ties. He stated, "Our goal is to expand the sport and provide upcoming golfers with the opportunity to improve their skills, in line with our brand's purpose—For People. For Better."

Tournament Schedule and Activities

The first leg of the tour will take place at the Royal Nairobi Golf Club during the weekend of February 1. Throughout the year-long event, Saturdays will feature amateur competitions, while Sundays will be dedicated to junior clinics.

Additionally, select golf clubs will host special tournaments for caddies.

Golfers will compete across various counties in Kenya, including Nairobi, Mombasa, Trans Nzoia, Kiambu, Kakamega, Uasin Gishu, Nyeri, Kericho, Machakos, Kisumu, Kisii, Laikipia, and Nandi.

The top teams from these events will qualify for the grand finale, scheduled for December 5, 2025.

The winning team of the series will receive Sh1 million, which will go towards a sustainability project of their choice at their home club. Additionally, they will get the chance to participate in a prestigious golf event in Kenya, with further details to be announced later.

Sustainability and Innovation Initiatives

As part of its commitment to sustainability, KCB will integrate environmental conservation initiatives into the tournament. This includes tree-planting campaigns at various golf clubs and promoting the use of eco-friendly LPG solutions.

In addition to supporting the golf tour, KCB has partnered with Mastercard to introduce the Multi-Currency Prepaid Card. This card, which offers the highest number of currency options, is designed to meet the financial needs of customers engaging in international transactions, providing them with a cost-effective solution.

The 2025 East Africa Golf Tour is set to not only enhance the sport but also strengthen ties across the region while advancing KCB’s sustainability goals.
