Airtel Uganda has unveiled a new managing director, Soumendra Sahu

Airtel Uganda has appointed Soumendra Sahu as its new managing director, replacing Manoj Murali, who will resign on October 31, 2024. Sahu, who brings over 20 years of experience in telecommunications, will officially take over on December 1, 2024.


Sahu has held senior roles at Tata Docomo, Reliance Communications, and Bharti Airtel, where he served as CEO of the Gujarat Circle. His extensive experience is expected to drive Airtel Uganda’s growth and improve customer experiences in the competitive telecom market.


Airtel Uganda, a subsidiary of Airtel Africa PLC, launched in 2010 and has seen its customer base grow to 14.8 million, a 7.5% increase as of the 2023 annual report. Under Sahu’s leadership, the company aims to continue expanding its market share while enhancing innovation in services.
