UNESCO Laureate Prof. Bashiru Aremu has been appointed Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Chief Patron of the Unity of Nations Action for Climate Change Council (UNACCC). The announcement was made on Saturday in a statement by Aremu's Executive Assistant on Media, Publicity, and Communication Matters, Bieni Emenike.
UNACCC, a global CEO-led organization with over 200 leading businesses and partners, is an official partner of the United Nations. It aims to accelerate the transition to a sustainable world. Prof. Aremu's appointment is seen as a significant step towards establishing the UNACCC Headquarters for the African continent, representing 57 nations.
The appointment letter, signed by UNACCC Global Founder and President Prof. Rajat Sharma, highlighted Aremu's dedication to education, awareness, and sustainable development. Sharma expressed confidence in Aremu’s ability to revolutionize education and promote sustainable development goals across Africa.
Aremu's new role will also involve appointing country chairmen and 57 national council members to advance UNACCC's mission in Africa. The organization looks forward to impactful collaborations under his leadership, aiming to create lasting positive change across the continent.
