Winner of R103m jackpot is Capitec client

A Capitec Bank client has won South Africa’s second-highest lotto jackpot, totaling over R103 million, as announced by Ithuba.

The lucky winner, who played their numbers using the Capitec banking app, has yet to claim the prize.

Ithuba noted that it’s common practice for banks to inform winners who play via their banking platforms of winnings above R249,000. These winners are directed to their nearest Ithuba office for a straightforward yet comprehensive claim and validation process. For amounts under R249,000, winnings are automatically transferred to the winner’s account.

This is the second-highest jackpot in South African lotto history, topping the R100 million jackpot won by a Pretoria resident in August. The highest jackpot of R110 million was shared by four winners in 2018.

Charmaine Mabuza, CEO of Ithuba, expressed excitement about creating another multimillionaire, eager to meet the winner and share in their transformative journey.
