Manchester United are in talks to sign Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta.

Mateta has had a strong season, scoring 8 goals since January, including two in Crystal Palace’s win at Old Trafford in January.

According to L’Équipe, negotiations have started, and Crystal Palace are reluctantly willing to let him go.

Manchester United’s manager, Ruben Amorim, wants to strengthen the team’s attack this summer due to uncertainty around Marcus Rashford’s future and the struggles of Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee.

Mateta is currently recovering from a serious ear injury he suffered during an FA Cup match against Millwall, where he was kicked in the head by goalkeeper Liam Roberts.

He needed 25 stitches and hopes to return for Crystal Palace’s FA Cup quarter-final against Fulham later this month.
