On Thursday evening, the Office of the Prime Minister of the Congo communicated through X (formerly Twitter) that the Ministry of Economy of the country announced a drastic reduction of at least 13% in the price of petroleum products throughout the country. This program is part of the Suminwa government's strategy to reduce financial stress on households and increase purchasing power.
In the Western and Northern regions, the price of a liter of gasoline dropped from FC3,340 to FC2,990.49, while the price of diesel fell from FC3,435 to FC2,979.73, which means a decrease of 13%.
In the eastern zone, gasoline is now priced at FC 3,776 per liter, while diesel is available at FC 3,762, Finally, in the southern zone, gasoline prices returned to 3,856 FC, and diesel to 3,923 FC.
The government is asking gas stations to quickly implement the new prices in order to provide better service to consumers
They stressed that this urgent decision is in the process of continuing to reduce the prices of basic products, so that the country's supply markets remain balanced and also reduce the financial burden of oil subsidies on the public treasury
